Us three, us brothers, us kings. Based on the New York Times bestselling novel by Justin Torres, this poem of a film directed by Jeremiah Zagar follows brothers Manny, Joel and Jonah as they tear their way through childhood and push against the volatile love of their parents. As Manny and Joel grow into versions of their father and Ma dreams of escape, Jonah, the youngest, embraces an imagined world all his own.

Developed through the Sundance Lab and CineReach, We the Animals premiered in the NEXT category at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival and won the NEXT Innovator Award, juried by RuPaul. After its premiere, We the Animals was named "this year's Moonlight" by Indiewire.

I was the Costume Designer and ran our wardrobe department with the incredible Stacey Jansen during two months of shooting on location in upstate New York. Most costumes were sourced from thrift stores and yard sales within 10 miles of location, and costumes were all stored in closets, dressers and laundry piles inside the family's picture house.

The film will be be exhibited in theaters fall 2018 by The Orchard
